What are Microlocs?
Microlocs are locs that are smaller than the size of a pencil.
How can they be installed?
Twist: are two-strand twists usually started with a braid when extensions are added
Interlocking: is pulling the hair through with a crochet tool in clockwise rotations from the end of the hair to the root (this method is used to create sisterlocks)
Braids- three strands of hair intertwined into a braid from root to ends
(Sisterlocks): Sisterlocks are the brand name for interlocking that require training from a sister loctician to be able to identify the locs as sisterlocks. Otherwise, they would be called microlocs or interlocs.
All methods are interlocked at the root and interlocked for maintenance
**I do not offer sisterlocks and am not a sister loctitian. I do offer interlocks, microlocs, and the other above listed starter loc methods.**
Which install method should I get:
Microbraided starter locs: all hair types (relaxed or natural, fine or thick, soft, curly, or coarse)
Microtwisted start locs: (natural hair, coarse, thick hair)
Interlocks for: all hair types
How long does the install take:
An install can take between 1-2 days depending on your head size, starter loc size, and hair state.
Microtwist starter locs and traditional loc attachments usually take 1 day.
Microbraid starter locs can take 2 days.
Interlocs can take between 2-3 days.
****Special prices are offered at various times and are good only during those specified times**
What to Expect:
With any extension service or loc service you can expect to have slippage and frizz within the first few months.
The hair pattern will change from what it originally looked like at the initial install.
Over time the hair will matte and become what is called a mature loc.
Maintenance and repairs are offered to my clients throughout the loc journey.
Get ready to experience hair growth and the light weight of the locs.
Frizz is normal and is necessary for the strength and forming of a loc.
If you have damaged hair please follow my recommendations for hair growth for the best results.
Maintenance is ever 4-6 weeks and if you pass that time additionals fee incur do to the extended times that will be needed for the service.
Permanent Extensions:
Extensions are added to give length.
They are not used to increase thickness.
They are added at the same thickness as your hair.
If you try to add extensions for fullness they will eventually slip and appear bigger than the rest of the hair.
To install permanent starter loc extensions, they are added via feed-in braid and twisted or braided to the end. Then the root of the hair is interlocked.
To attach extensions that are already locked they are combined with your hair with an instant locking tool.
Temporary Extensions:
Extensions are installed for the fullness and length.
The install involves adding the hair as you would box braids and then either twisting or braiding the hair to the ends. They can be interlocked at the root as well.
Maximum wear is 3 months before needing to be removed. They are not intended to be permanent
Because they are starter locs you can expect frizz and there is minimal that can be done to tame the frizz over time because they are temporary you would need to get them redone.
Maintence is limited because they are temporary. They usually get redone instead of a retie.

Do not wash until after 6 weeks and be sure to braid the hair down and leave it braided until fully dry
Avoid playing in your hair and rubbing through it to reduce slippage

For itch, you can use an anti-itch leave-in conditioning spray, tea tree oil, or peppermint oil

For extreme condition of hair lose use minoxidil drops (Nioxin brand)
For thinning and breaking hair use Nioxin shampoo for anti-thinning.
Microloc Maintenance:
Please follow up in 4-6 weeks for microloc maintenance which includes interlocking your new growth. I complete small repairs during this time as well. Instant locking of flyaways and frizz is also done as needed. I offer a complimentary hair wash if needed after the first install only.
Major repairs that are timely require a separate appointment if I was not advised before booking.
It is recommended to send a picture of your hair when you book each retie.
**Please do not go past 6 weeks for required maintenance if I did not recommend it.**
Damage can include locs combining, unraveling, large amounts of slippage, extreme frizz, etc.
Completing your own reties is not recommended nor having multiple locticians as it can complicate your journey and require excessive repairs that can be costly.
The more your hair grows the longer the retie will take.
Appointments are $50/hr past your booked time with a max of 2 hours of overage**

What to Expect for Microloc Extensions
Please be advised that specials are valid until I provide an end date.
100% unprocessed human hair is provided for the services in 12-14 inches
The install usually takes 1 day to complete for the twist and 2 days for the braid method.
The price is the same if you choose not to include extensions.
The extensions that are provided are natural black.
Longer lengths and colors are and additional fee.
Microlocs refer to the size of the loc being smaller than a pencil.
The extensions are intended to blend with your hair and matte into mature locs so the intial install will be started as a feed in braid with no knot at the root like a box braid unless there are length issues with your hair.
Over time the pattern of the twist will change, braid loc patterns take longer to dissappear.
You do not have to remove your extensions in the future it is intended to be permanent unless you had areas added as a box braid for the health and growth of the hair.
The recommended hair texture for the micro twist is coarse hair, however, other textures can receive the install as well with an extended braid down to prevent slippage.
Slippage and frizz are expected during the loc journey and is necessary to build the loc strength.
The root of the hair is interlocked for all microloc installs and maintenance.
Maintenance is 4-6 weeks. The new growth will be interlocked and instant locking can be done to reduce frizz and maintain the uniform size down the lock when it swells. It also helps prevent slippage.
Avoid tight styles, excessively wetting the hair, and overly manipulating your hair after an install. The hair will react as your natural hair would when it is wet and can lead to slippage and large amount of frizz.
